Ann-Sofi Sidén, *1962 in Stockholm, Sweden / lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden
Ann-Sofi Sidén is a key figure in a generation of artists who developed an anti-formal approach in the 1980s using performance, sculpture, photo and film as essential components of their work. In portrayals of the human condition she explores dimensions of hierarchal structures, often through site specific investigations, from which she brings to the surface hidden conflicts, abnormality, vulnerability and ultimately the individual’s loss of control.
In her work with moving images, she tears down „the only story“ with a myriad of voices, situations, moments and narratives. She persistently negotiates space to suggest an alternative cinematic experience of the world.
