Kaloki’s inspiration is rooted in heritage and lineage — in the ongoing conversation between past, present and the space between. His practice reflects on how humans coexist: immersed within the crowd yet also capable of observing quietly from the outside.

In these recent years marked by chaos, instability, and uncertainty, he returns to the idea that each of us holds an inner space of comfort. In earlier works, this took the form of protective “bubbles” emerging within turbulent environments; pockets of temporary reprieve. In this new series, he works to draw those bubbles closer, exploring a middle ground of coexistence, whether bodies are near, distant, or shifting between the two.

For the exhibition, Kaloki proposes six large works to be installed across selected locations in the Arsenale, with three medium works presented in the Giardini. The pieces will be arranged so they intercommunicate — each work echoing, responding to, or gently challenging another and creating a continuous dialogue across both spaces.
