Weems has held many solo and group exhibitions worldwide, including her recent solo shows “Carrie Mae Weems: Painting the Town” at the Rijksmuseum and “Carrie Mae Weems: The Heart of the Matter” at Gallerie d’Italia in Turin (both 2025). She has also exhibited at the Hessel Museum of Art CCS Bard, Kunstmuseum Basel, the Völklinger Hütte, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, LUMA Foundation, Foundation Prada, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Frist Center for Visual Art, and many others.

She has been awarded numerous prizes, grants and fellowships, most recently the 2024 National Medal of Arts, granted by the United States’ State Department and National Endowment for the Arts. Weems’ works can be found in public and private collections throughout the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the National Gallery of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Brooklyn Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles, and the Tate Modern, among others.
